Poke-world

The boy held tightly to the pokemon, whispering encouraging words to her. Slowly, he slid down the branches, clenching tightly with one of his hands as he maneuvered down.

But he made a mistake. He thought the branch was solid, but the ice must have made it weak. The branch broke underneath him and the boy cried out, free hand flailing. Luckily, he grabbed onto another branch.

Slowly, he peeped through a tightly shut eye. The ground seemed soooo far away! Clinging to the pokemon,he cried out as the rough bark dug into his fingers. He didn't want to hit the ground! He didn't want to fall and go flat! "H-Help!!" He cried out, feeling the branch bend and groan.

Codex went mercilessly after Glaceon, breaking everything in his path and leaving small craters in the ice each time him narrowly missed the feline. He almost had the Glaceon, too. Just a feint and with just the right instep.... 'Help!' Damn that child. Slipping across the ice, he turned to the distressed plea. If it were any other human...any other 'older' human.... The Glaceon forgotten, Codex Galloped across the frozen forest, Rushing to Gales aid. #Stupid boy!#

Slipping up to the tree, He braced himself against the tree and stood his full height. Stuck his nose between the child’s feet and puffed clouds of white up at him. #Feh....One of these days......# Reaching up with his paws, he plucks the boy from the cracking, frozen branch. Struggling not to slip, he cradled the boy in one arm and dropped to a crouch for better balance, slinking quickly into grass and away from the ice.

Erin started off the day as best as it could have been. She was away from home for the first time, and with her friend by her side, they'd be able to do anything! ....She hoped...

She was rather suprised when she noticed ice and snow on the ground. "....Isn't it July?" She asked her invisible pokemon. She always seemed to know where it was, even when others couldn't see it. The gastly appeared, looking slightly worried. Something powerful must have created this, and it wasn't sure it'd be able to protect the girl. She had always been rather sickly, and it didn't want to get her into any more trouble than it had to.

The sound of crunching ice brought both of their attention up to the large pokemon running towards them. Erin took out her Pokedex, and held it up towards the pokemon, "Codex.....No entry availble"

"........No...No entry? Does that mean it's rare?" Erin pondered, as the Gastly stood in front of the little girl protectivly, in case it wanted to attack.

Gale clung to the tiny pokemon, curled up to the other pokemon, shaking and shivering, trying not to sob. Sobbing was not a good thing, so he shouldn't cry. Instead, he opted out to huddle up against this pokemon as they journeyed away from the ice and the cold.

Slowly, he regained feeling. Slowly, he lost his fears and he looked up, eying the pokemon. Was this familiar? did he see this pokemon before? What was this? But he felt comfortable and stopped questioning it.

something sounded. The boy looked up, seeing another person and a Ghastly - he knew that pokemon, at least. and there was a person next to it. Was she a trainer? Gale didn't want to fight right now...

Codex didn't have any plan in mind. He only knew that he should keep moving and take the boy as far from the ice and cold as quickly as possible. He could take him into the woods? Build a nest for him? Would that warm him up enough, though? Gale was shivering like a Bayleaf in a maelstrom. That's when he came upon the other human. His first passing thought was to avoid them. Codex hated being seen by humans. They were nothing but trouble; those big ones were. His next thought brought him to a startling halt. Human, Gale was human. That human would be better for him to get better; get warmer. They were trainers; trainers carried lots of convenient things on them. Big pods like portable nests. Food and healing berries. Strange things that made fire like Charizards.

A long distance from Erin yet, Codex stood tall. Almost his full height. Ears flit forward; warning that he would be hostile if his company meant it. And cautiously bared Gale and Cerebi in plain view against his belly. His nose touched the air, sniffing for a change in their already cautious and curious states. And waited to see what happened next as he slowly lowered himself to the ground. “Dex.....?”

Erin wanted to leave. She really did. The Pokemon towered over her, causeing her to slink back slightly. But... There was the boy, and another strange pokemon in his arms. They didn't look very good. She was tempted to try scanning that pokemon as well, but there were more pressing issues. It looked like the pokemon was going to let her come closer, so she took a few slow hesitant steps at first, gaining speed as it seemed like it was becoming impatient with her hesitance. The Gastly followed, keeping a keen eye on the Codex, in case it tried to strike the girl while she was pre-occupied.

Erin staggared slightly as she took Gale into her arms, setting him down on a cleared off log. She took her poncho off, and wrapped it around him and the Celebi, as she began digging supplies out of her backpack. First she pulled out a pink container, containing a slightly pressurized mist, that as she sprayed it on the two of them, the ice began to thaw, a warmth returning to their complexion. Then she began digging out several other items, her first aid kit, a small paraffin stove, and a thermos, full of what would have been her lunch.

Handing the items over to the boy, the Gastly monitoring the two's recovery, she looked up at the strange pokemon, trying to find her voice. ".....Th....Thank you for.... Helping him.... Are....Are you hurt in any way?" She asked, unsure of what else to say.

Codex was hesitant to let the human take Gale and Cerebi. Though knew it was vital, so he kept his teeth seethed. Following her, Codex circled around and sat near the log, staring at Gale and Cerebi. Watching with fascination as the girl pulled various tools and items from her pack he recognized and had never before seen.

As she worked on the pair again, He backed away from the log. Patiently balancing on his toes in a low crouch. Watching. Waiting. He worried about Cerebi. She wasn't meant for the cold. He hadn't realized until about now that she had gotten caught up in the ice and the fighting field. He quietly growled in his own frustration at not paying better mind to her before. Cerebi was as bad as That tiny human, Gale. Always getting and putting himself in trouble.....

Blinking, Codex lifted a curious glance up at Erin. Hurt? him? He didn't feel hurt. His stomach was sore, but that was nothing to him. His fur was heavy and caked with ice in patches; though he hadn't even noticed it until he thought about just now. His knuckles...just a little cut up from punching the ice.... Codex glanced over his shoulder towards where he left the glaceon, as if expecting it to come running after them to continue the fight or call him a coward. He really wanted to go back and finish that fight, but Gale and Cerebi....

He hunched over and watched closely. Glaceon could wait. He could wait...

His shivers lessened. There was a warmth that spread throughout his body slowly, warming his skin and muscle. He relaxed on the log, but wondered where the soft fur went.

Opening an eye, he saw the trainer person. Gale sat up, holding the sleepy Celebi close to him. Cautiously, he studied the girl and her Ghastly. She didn't seem that mean. In fact, she even shared her jacket with him.

"Thank you!" He said, feet kicking the log excitedly. Then he looked about himself. Where was that other pokemon? Then he found him. "Heeeey, you're cold too!" Gale cried, hopping off the log and going to Codex. The patches of ice worried teh child and it looked like that battle with that other pokemon hurt a bit.

He turned back to the girl. "Can he wear the jacket?" He asked, tugging at the purple thing. "Pleeeeaaase?

Erin had rushed off, after inspecting the new Pokemon, digging through her bag for something. She pulled out a green container and some other items as the boy asked about her poncho. ".....Uhhh..... S...Sure..." She said softly, before going back to the Codex, first aid kit in hand.

First she pulled out the pink container from before, spraying the mist on the pokemon's fur, noticing the snow falling off in clumps and slush, "....S...See Gastly, you...you didn't think I'd need to get this yet" She gently teased as she put the container back in her pocket.

Gastly by this point had already somehow managed to turn on her little stove, the soup cooking in a little collapsable pot, even though it seemed impossible as he had no hands. Sometimes... It's just better not to ask.

"....Th...This is going to sting.... But you don't want... To get those...i..infected" She said as she hesitatnly approached the bloody fur on his paws with her disenfectant spray. Bandages wrapped around her arm, ready to wrap up his hands after she cleaned out the wounds.

When Gale jumped about giddily and begging about the coat, Codex merely rolled it's eyes. It needed no such thing as human coats and medicines. Though he didn't seem to shy away from the sprays when Erin spritz it on his fur. He gave a startled jump, though. Curiously fascinated as the ice abruptly fell off and away. Codex soon gave another jump. Lurching and rearing away from Erin with teeth bared and a snarl rumbling in his maw. #Rah! What is this!?# His paw burned fervidly as if it were in fire.Shaking his paw, he tried to put out the invisible fire on his paw. Finding that blowing on it was only enough to stave the burning.

Gale cowered slightly as Codex stood and growled. But he quickly recovered. Somehow, this pokemon didn't scare him as much as it should...

"Eve!" He called out, tossing a pokeball. "Tell him it's ok!" Eevee bounced to the ground and jumped to Codex, sitting in front of it, bushy tail waving back and forth. She wore a very encouraging expression as she said, #Don't worry! It's making the big hurt go away for a small hurt!# She walked about in a circle. #Human medicine acts funny, but it makes you feel better in the end!#

Gale looked at Erin and grinned broadly before turning back to Codex and Eve, holding up the poncho. He looked at the bigger pokemon with a hopeful puppy-like look on his face. It just got done battling. It needed to stop jumping around and rest. Yes it did.

((LOL Random thought. Erin should totally get a Chansey later if she's teh healer.))

Pala watched from the bushes a few metres away from them, head tentatively craning out to inspect the scene. She felt a little disheartened. They all hated the cold,couldn't stand it. She sagged a little, and was contemplating the decision to just run and hide and be left alone.

Erin decided to let the boy try to calm the strange pokemon down, he seemed to know him after all. She began to shy away from the group, who all seemed better now. Didn't need her anymore...

She heard a rustling behind her. Was there someone else there? The others were preoccupied by the fire, so she decided to check it out herself. She walked through the snow, thankful that she wore nice boots for this trip. She saw a small pokemon in the bushes, upon closer inspection, it was a Glaceon. She didn't look all that happy though...

She knelt down, hestitanly patting the pokemon, before getting comfortable around the Glaceon, and sat down next to it. "...Hi...I'm Erin." She said to the pokemon, which seemed to cringe back itself. "Do..Don't worry, I'm around my Gastly all the time.... I'm used to the cold" She said, guessing why it had shyed away. "...Do...Do you want to come over with us? You don't look so well yourself... And you can have some food if you want..." She said, trying to comfort the Pokemon.

Pausing his tending, Codex looked down to the Eevee that hopped about at his feet. He took a step away form it, staring crookedly at the hyper little pokemon. #Human medicine.....I don't like it....but I will leave it alone this time.# It was new and strange to him. He'd never been tended to by the humans before. He didn't trust it.

Sinking back down, balancing on his toes, He looked up from his coagulating knuckles to Gale. Tilting his head at the purple material thrust in his face. This was one of those things the human worse. Things the made them warm.

Sniffing the poncho, Codex tried to nose it back towards Gale. Though instead found himself poking his nose through a hole that stuck it around his neck. Startled, he jerked up, pulling it out of Gales hands and further around his neck, a hood covering his face.

Standing up, he looked about, trying to see. Nose in the air and shaking his head when that didn't do anything. "Codex!" Sniffling, he sneezed and shook his head again. Toppling over on his rump and staring at the ground. Confused and dazed. Kicking his hind leg up, he scratched at the poncho. This only kicked up the frays, tangling them off his shoulder and hanging round his head and face. Jumping up again, he shook fervidly, trying to remove the strange coat. "DEX! Cooodex! Dexdexdex~!!"

Gale's grin at Codex wearing the coat soon vanished. "Ah! No! Wait! It's-" He slowly circled teh pokemon and grabbed his neck. Codex rolled, trying to get Gale off, but he held tight. When the pokemon finally calmed, Gale pulled up the hood. Eve darted around, voicing its concerns as its trainer dealt with Codex

"Silly!" He said, pulling at it. "It's just a hood!" Grinning, he pulled it off Codex's neck and stood back. "Maybe that wasn't a good idea..." he mumbled to himself. Eve trotted up to him, rubbing against his legs. Then she looked to Codex and giggled. #My boy called you silly~#

Once Gale grabbed a hold of his neck, Codex stopped flailing. It felt familiar, like the metal band around hi neck. Docile, He let Gale pull the hoodie off and then the poncho all together. Freed, Codex took a step back and shook is head. Ears flopping wildly in the motion. Rubbing it's head after, He stare down at Eevee. Lowering enough to nose the little fox at Gales feet.

#Hn....We'll see who's silly when I eat you for lunch, Pup.# He licked his lips and picked up Eve by her scruff. Tossing the Eevee like he'd catch it in his mouth, but instead closed his wide maw and caught the Pokemon on his snout; leering 'playfully' at it.

Pala stared up at Erin, her mouth open.
#I'm hungry.# She sniffed at Erin's hands, and looked around nervously. Unsure what the girl would do, she turned and darted away, leaving a slight trail of frost behind.

“w..Wait!” Erin called out, chasing after the Glaceon. She was by no means a fast runner, and soon lost sight of the Pokémon. She stopped for a moment, worried that it was hurt and ran away because she scared it somehow. She noticed a slight trail though, leading through the leaves. A small patch of frost here and there, amongst the disturbed brush. With a new bout of determination, she decided to go after it.

After a while, she ran out of patches of snow to follow. She stopped, glancing around, trying to decide on what to do now. She was all alone out here. Her only pokemon was Gastly, and he was back with the others. She had to find the Glaceon, she couldn’t stand the idea of it all alone. She felt a chilling breeze rush past, and turned towards the wind. It had to be that way. She continued on for a minute or two, eventually seeing the familiar white and blue pokemon.

“…Pl…Please don’t run away. I promise not to hurt you…. I don’t even have my Pokemon with me right now…. Please come back… Its… Its not fun being alone…” Erin said, knowing what that was like. Before Gastly…. She had been all alone herself, in the hospital…

“…Biii…..” Celebi hummed softly as it woke up. It felt warm and cozy, nuzzled up against a log. It noticed that it’s antennae were wet, and furiously began drying them off, hating the feeling of them wet. It slowly opened it’s eyes, to see a big pair staring right back at her, with fangs spread out in a wide grin.

“Bi!” Celebi cried out in surprise, jolting away from the giggling Gastly, confused to where she was. The last thing she remembered was being cold and being taken away. She zipped away, around the campfire and the others, hiding behind the one familiar face, Codex. She hid by his shoulder, letting out a soft, worried 'biiiii….'

“#Who are they? What’s going on?#”

"Hahaha! Cool!" Gale said, watching Codex play with Eve, unaware that he was mildly annoyed with his little pokemon. Eve, also naively unaware, batted at his forehead before darting down as Celebi rushed past.

"Hey, you're ok!" Gale cried, standing on his tiptoes to see the Celebi. "That's good!" He had a big, childish grin on his face as he jumped up and down at her, getting closer to Codex in his excitement. Eve, dancing back and forth watched as well.

#I'm Eve, I'm Eve!# said the Eevee to Celebi, hopping from paw to paw. #And that's my boy! That's my boy, Gale! You're with us! We're going to eat! Do you want to eat? My boy has great food! Yes he does! I bet my boy would share with you! and I bet that girl has good food too!# turning from the wild pokemon, she tried to find the trainer. But she was nowhere in sight. Eve pranced up to the Ghastly. #Hey hey! You you! Where's your girl? Where's your girl?# She ran in a circle underneath the ghost pokemon, looking to and fro for Erin. #I don't see her.#

Gale watches his Eevee dance around as usual before turning back to Codex and Celebi. "Are you guys feeling better? Do you want something to eat? Are you hungry?" He grinned broadly and reached into his pocket. "I got good pokechow!"

Pala stopped, considering the girl's plea. She...didn't seem so bad.
Perhaps...she didn't want to fight everyone, but she needed somebody strong.

Pala brushed against Erin, to show she wasn't hostile, then backed away, and sat infront of her.

They were so...chipper. It was disturbing and a bit annoying. Codex just wanted to step on the little Eevee pup and squish it 'till it just squeaked and keeled over. The temptation must have been too tempting, because he eventually did step on the Eevee, holding it down enough that it would sit still and not move, but hardly enough to kill it or even bother it. Celebi, huddled on his shoulder, would never let him get away with that. Speaking of whom....

#I don't like it, Celebi. There's too many humans.# granted there were only two, and one was a child he was secretly acquainted with, it was still too many for Codex's comfort. He preferred his isolation away from human contact. It was better....safer...that way. He knew there were few of his kind. That he was possibly the only one, like Celebi. They needn't risk their survival to greedy trainers. #Let's go before the other one comes back.# He stood and stepped away from the fire, turning to leave.

Celebi was perfectly happy with the prospects of leaving with Codex. It had… bad incidents with trainers in the past…. Or was that the future? She wasn’t sure, darting back and forth across time skews one’s perception of how things are ordered. Humans were fun in small doses, nothing more. Plus… She didn’t feel like playing games right now.

Something sparkly caught her eye though… Or more to say, something metallic. She flew off of Codex’s shoulder, as if memorized by the small object sticking out of Erin’s bag. She picked up the Pokegear and held it up in the air. It turned on accidentally, and it Celebi began pressing buttons happily. With a content ‘Biiii’ she began to play with HER brand new toy…

Erin sat down as well, trying to show that she didn’t mean the Glaceon any harm. Also, she was rather tired from the run….. Now that she was closer to it, she could see that it had a few scrapes and bruises as well. She bit her lip, she had always hated seeing people or Pokemon hurt.

“…W…we can get those cuts looked at too, if you come back.” She stuttered, hoping the Pokemon would listen to her. “….I…I’m new to all of this…. And… I may be over-reacting… But…. I promise I’m just trying to help” The girl said, continuing to stumble over her words, the sincerity behind it evident though.

Gastly began panicking when the Eevee revealed to it that it’s trainer was missing. It had been focusing entirely on the stew that it let her walk away unattended. “# %^&&%!!#”

He began searching around, wisping through the clearing, trying to figure out where she went. The last time he left her alone for too long….. He went faster. There wasn’t anyone around that’d be able to help this time!

“#....Wait here#” It told the Eevee and the boy, knowing that the Codex would probably ignore it anyway as it snatched Erin’s bag and whisked off into the forest to try to find Erin, before something bad happened.

Angelique stared down at her map, then looked up at the surrounding trees and back down again. She was still getting her bearings in Hoenn, having gotten off the ship from Sinnoh less than a week before. A sudden chill in the air and the rush of wind interrupted her thoughts and caused her to look up as a bag went rushing by.

"What in the world?" Hurriedly shoving her map away, she pulled out her pokedex and followed the bag with it. "Gastly?"

A pokemon was stealing a trainer's supplies? Frowning, she pulled out a pokeball, releasing Skarmory.

"Skarmory! Steel wing!"

Pala licked her own cuts, and brushed them down, as if they were just bits of dirt.
#I'm ok, they're nothing.# She nudged Erin with her nose, urging her to get up. She had a feeling something was about to happen, and she was the least of anyone's concerns.

As Ghastly left one way, Codex, snatched Celebi with a tendril and pulled the her close to his shoulder. Oblivious to her new toy. He gave Gale and Eevee a long hard looking at before turning and bolting away from the camp. It had been a busy and tiring afternoon, but that didn't slow him down a bit. And soon enough he was simply gone, carrying a rather entertained Celebi along with him.

He sat up. Looked around. Tap, tap, tapped his foot. Checked his phone. Nothing. He Reclined, stretched his arm and drummed his finger on the table. “Eh hem?” The people at the next table stare, disturbed by the fidgeting. He stopped. He sighed. Sat up again and turned his cup on the table. The ice in his lemonade had melted. Whoops. It was probably all watery and tasteless. “Ngh.....”, he groaned and drank it anyway. “Kirlia?” Violet eyes found the white a green pokemon across from him staring with wide, worried eyes. Smiling sheepishly, he shrugged and began his routine again. Sit up. Tap, , phone, recline, drum. Sit up, sigh, repeat.

He looked absolutely gloomy and there wasn't a thing Kirlia could do for him. It was just one of those days, it thought. Looking beyond their little table outside the poke-friendly restaurant, she saw the sun and the sky and felt the nice breeze. Heard trainers running around and battling. Littler kids playing. Older folks just enjoying the day. It was the epiphany of the perfect afternoon, and Her poor trainer was stuck doing nothing. Well......sort of nothing. He was waiting. For a call, she supposed. He was always waiting for a call or a job on days like this; when all he could do was stare at the perfect weather and mourn over the fact that he'd sooner get a call than get to enjoy it like everyone else. It was all amusing, but sometimes she worried about him.....

“Ach .... ich bin gelangweilt~ Isn't de anysin' exciting' going on?” Just like him to complain about being bored when there was plenty to do while he waited. Kirlia just chuckled a sad little laugh. “Kirli...kirlia kir?”, she asked from her side of the table. Offering an enthusiastic smile. Terral, as if understanding, sighed and picked up his phone. “Ja-ja~ I know, Kirlia. But what If I get da call an we're in da wrong place for de job?” “Kiiiirlia......” “...Sie ne'er know!” “Kir.....” He simply chuckled and pocketed the phone, “O-kay, o-kay! Jus across de street, though....”

He received a happy chirp from Kirlia and escorted his Pokemon away from the restaurant. She did a little twirl, eager for even short little walk to mingle with other Pokemon and trainers. They hadn't gone more than a few steps when the phone finally rang, and Kirlia cursed it's impeccable timing it always seemed to have. Although, Terral couldn't get the phone out fast enough. “J-ja!? Ah...Terral ist speaking.” A man spoke from the other end. The Boss, Kirlia knew. Terral had another job, probably. Good news, usually.

“Ja? Pe'dalburg? No pro-bo-lem!” Click. “Ja-ha! Come on Kirlia! We need a ride to Pe'dalburg and fast!”
